I checked 177 hotel pools against every tower in town, every 15 minutes, every month. Here's what I found:
- In July, 78 hotel pools get 4 hours or more of sun after 3 pm.
- By mid-October, the typical pool goes into shade at about half five.
- Rosamar gets sun from 10:00 to 21:00 in July, but only 11:30 to 16:30 in October.
- Gran Hotel Bali gets 11 hours of sun in July. Villa España? About 3. Pack a cardigan.

Which Benidorm hotel pools get the afternoon sun?
In October the pools with the most sun after 3 pm are Apartotel Magic Tropical Splash (4 h 15 min), Hotel Alone and Hotel Cimbel. In July, 78 of 177 hotel pools we checked get 4 hours or more of sun after 3 pm.
What time do Benidorm pools go into shade?
It depends on the towers around each pool. In mid-October the typical hotel pool goes into shade at about 17:30. Pools between tall towers in Levante and the Old Town can lose the sun by early afternoon. Search your hotel above for its times.
Which hotel pools are shady?
In July the shadiest pools we checked are at Dynastic, Dynastic Hotel & Spa and Hotel Marconi. Shade is good news if you want to avoid the midday heat.
How is this worked out?
We take the height of every building in Benidorm from a 1 m laser (LiDAR) survey and Catastro floor counts, work out the sun's position every 15 minutes, and draw each building's shadow. A pool counts as in the sun when at least half of it is lit. Trees, parasols and awnings are not included, so check the photos too.
Is the rooftop pool included?
Yes. Rooftop pools are marked, and only buildings taller than the roof can shade them.

Sun position for Benidorm every 15 minutes, 06:00 to 22:00 local time, on the 15th of each month. A pool counts as in the sun when at least half of it is lit. Each hotel is matched to the largest pool within 80 m, so check the 3D map if your hotel shares a block. Trees, parasols and awnings are not included. Data: 2,092 pools, built 22 October 2026.
