Which Benidorm bars with entertainment let children in?

Dear Brenda

It's our first time in Benidorm with the whole family in August: a three-year-old, two primary-age children, and our teenage nieces who love a tribute act. Is it true some show bars stopped letting under-16s in at night? Where can we all go for a bit of entertainment after tea? And is there anything for a toddler if it rains?

Yes, you can all go out together, but plan around the door rules. It's true: since 2023 visitors have found several evening show bars admit over-16s only, though the rule is set bar by bar, and even room by room, so ask at the door. With a three-year-old, your best evenings are your hotel's own show and the Tropical Bar, the big terrace venue families have named most from 2023 to 2026. Let your nieces see their tribute acts in the afternoon, when bars on Calle Gerona and Levante put on free shows from midday and children are more likely to be let in. Rain is rare in August, about 2.6 wet days on average, but if it comes, Mundomar's sea lions and parrots and the hotel kids' club will keep a toddler happy.

Who the regulars recommend

  • Tropical BarThe venue families name most from 2023 to 2026: big terrace, parrot show, children welcome.
  • Flamingo OasisPraised for children's entertainment by day and excellent shows at night.
  • Benidorm PalaceA proper show for 8 to 14-year-olds at €20, if they can manage a 22:00 start.
  • MundomarSea lions and parrots: an easy half-day for a toddler, from £18 online.
  • FestilandiaA funfair families suggest for the evenings; check it's open when you visit.

Watch out for

  • Many evening show bars are over-16 only; ask at the door before you sit down.
  • Some comedians are very blue; check who is on before you sit down with children.
  • Adults-only hotel areas and terraces turn children away, even with parents.
  • Late-night bars on the Square and the Strip get crowded and loud; not for a pushchair.
What we've learned

Are children allowed in Benidorm bars at night?

Some yes, some no, and it has changed. In 2023 visitors reported that several evening show bars now only admit over-16s, and a 2024 visitor whose friends took girls of 7 and 9 found most evening venues were over-16, though they found a few that weren't. In one building, the upstairs bar let children in while the bar downstairs was over-16 only. Ask before you settle in, or check the bar's Facebook page. Treat any list of 'kids welcome' bars from before 2023 as out of date.

Where do families actually go in the evening?

The Tropical Bar comes up more than any other bar as a big venue that welcomes children, with a good terrace and acts such as a parrot show. Families with children aged 4 to 11 spent their evenings there in 2023, and visitors called it the best bet again in 2026. The other answer is the hotel: the Flamingo Oasis is praised for lots of children's entertainment by day and excellent shows at night. On our hotels page, 41 of the 50 hotels have entertainment and 16 have a kids' club.

When can the teenagers see a tribute act?

In the afternoon. Benidorm's bars start early: on Thursday 15 October our What's on page listed 202 acts across 57 venues, with live music from midday and tributes through the afternoon on Calle Gerona, in Rincón de Loix and along Levante. Most bar shows are free to get in. A 2025 visitor suggested the bars on the promenade from about 4pm. If your nieces are 16 or over, most evening shows are open to them too.

Is Benidorm Palace suitable for children?

Yes, for the older ones. Children aged 8 to 14 can see the show for €20, or €25 with a kids' tapa. It runs on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and starts at 22:00 (22:15 on Saturday), so it's a late night for primary-age children and too late for a three-year-old.

What can we do with a toddler, or if it rains?

Lean on the hotel pool and kids' club by day, and the bigger venues with terraces in the early evening, where a pushchair fits and the noise isn't in your ear. Mundomar, with sea lions and parrots, is a good half-day with a three-year-old, from £18 online. A 2023 visitor also found a mini golf with a play area and arcade where adults can sit with a drink while the children play.

What's changed lately. Since 2023, more show bars have gone over-16 in the evening, so families now catch acts in the afternoon and rely on hotel entertainment. Visitors split on the Tropical Bar: most say it's fantastic for families, others remind you it's still a bar with tribute bands, not a kids' venue.

What the regulars say

  • Ask at the door before you sit down: age rules vary bar by bar, and room by room.
  • Catch the afternoon acts; that is when children are most welcome.
  • Pick a hotel with its own entertainment and kids' club so evenings are easy.
  • Check who is on before you sit down: some comedians are not for children's ears.

Your other questions, answered

2026Is the children's entertainment still running?

Hotel kids' clubs and shows are busiest in school holidays; ask your hotel what's on that week. Families were still welcome at the Tropical Bar in 2026.

2025Which places are good for evenings out with a one- and a three-year-old?

The Tropical Bar's terrace and your hotel's own show. Go early in the evening, when there's room for a pushchair.

2024Can young teenagers get into a popular late bar?

Some let teenagers in with parents and some are over-16 after dark. Go early and ask at the door.

2024Are children allowed in bars with entertainment at February half-term?

Some are. The Tropical Bar reopened in late December and was open in January and February 2024, with children welcome; afternoon acts are the safest bet.

2023Has a well-known cabaret bar stopped letting in under-16s?

Several show bars went over-16 in the evening in 2023. Rules differ bar by bar, so check before you go.

2023Where can a family group aged 15 to 70 go at night?

Afternoon tribute acts, a hotel show, or Benidorm Palace, where 15-year-olds pay the adult price and the show starts at 22:00.

2022Any shows for a family with two teenagers in mid-October?

Benidorm Palace runs four nights a week. Terra Mítica sold Horror Nights tickets in October 2026; check age limits before you book.
