Short answer

Benidorm's big tourist market is the Mercadillo de Levante (also called the Rincón or "Pueblo" market) in Rincón de Loix, held every Wednesday and Sunday, 8am–2pm (checked 20 Oct 2026). The town's own municipal street market at Foietes runs Wednesdays, 8am–2pm (checked 20 Oct 2026) and is more about food and clothes for locals. The indoor market (Mercat Municipal) is in the centre on Plaza SS.MM. Reyes de España. For antiques and bric-a-brac, the Rastro El Cisne runs Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The Wednesday and Sunday market in Rincón de Loix

This is the one most British visitors mean when they say "Benidorm market". It sets up on Wednesdays and Sundays from 8am to 2pm on Avenida de l'Almirall Bernat de Sarrià in Rincón de Loix, right next to the Hotel Servigroup Pueblo — hence its nickname, the Pueblo market. Listings put it at well over 200 stalls.

What's sold: clothes (new and second-hand), swimwear, shoes and leather goods, bags, sunglasses and costume jewellery, household bits and souvenirs, plus fresh fruit, veg, bread, cakes and freshly squeezed orange juice.

Tips: arrive before 10am to beat the crowds, especially in high season. Most stalls want cash, though some take cards. There are bars and cafés in and around the market. Free street parking nearby fills up by mid-morning.

Foietes: the town's own Wednesday market

Benidorm City Council runs a separate municipal street market every Wednesday on the Mercasa esplanade in Foietes, next to the Guillermo Amor sports city. The council describes it as around 240 food and textile stalls, with food kept in its own section and clothes and shoes in another. It is the more local market: think fruit, veg, cheese and cured meats, closer to a UK farmers' market than a souvenir market.

Two quirks worth knowing: - In July it moves. In 2025 the council moved it to the Fairgrounds (Recinto Ferial) for the whole of July (2 July to 30 July) because of summer festivals and concerts at the sports city, returning to Mercasa on 6 August; the council describes this as an annual move. - Bank holidays. When a Wednesday is a public holiday, the council usually brings the market forward to the Tuesday (it did this on Tuesday 5 December 2023 for the Constitution Day holiday, and on Tuesday 18 March 2025 for Saint Joseph's Day).

The indoor market (Mercat Municipal)

Benidorm's covered municipal market sits in the town centre at Plaza SS.MM. Reyes de España 1, a short walk from the Old Town. There's a Mercadona supermarket in the basement (opened 2020). By September 2025 the council reported every stall was let, including a new fishmonger and fruit shop, and awarded the market's bar-café to an operator. It's a working food market rather than a tourist attraction: come for fresh fish, fruit and picnic supplies.

Opening hours are not published on the council's market page. Go in the morning.

El Cisne flea market (the Rastro)

If you want antiques, vinyl, old books, furniture, silverware or military memorabilia, the Rastro El Cisne is held on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays on Avenida de la Comunitat Valenciana, beside the N-332 near Camping Benisol, about 3km north-east of the centre. It's a morning market of around 80 stalls; published hours vary between sources, from 7am or 9am until 2pm or 3pm, so go before noon (checked 20 Oct 2026).

Christmas, summer and seasonal markets

  • Christmas: each year Plaza SS.MM. Reyes de España is renamed Plaza de la Navidad until 6 January, with food and gift stalls, a large ice rink and children's attractions. In 2025 the season started on 29 November.
  • Summer night craft market: daily from 1 July to 30 September, roughly 7.
  • Medieval market: one weekend in May at Parque de Elche, marking the anniversary of Benidorm's 1325 town charter (the Carta de Poblament). In 2026 it ran from 8 to 10 May, 11am–11pm, with around 70 stalls; 2027 dates are not yet announced (checked 20 Oct 2026).

Markets nearby

  • Altea: Tuesdays, approx. 9am–2pm, Avenida de la Nucía — mostly fruit, veg, cheese, bread and plants. Pair it with our Altea day trip.
  • L'Alfàs del Pi: Fridays, approx. 8am–2pm, Avinguda de la Constitució — produce, clothes, flowers.
  • Villajoyosa: Thursdays, approx. 8am–1.30pm, Avinguda Carles Llorca i Baus — produce, clothes, household goods and local foods. (All checked 20 Oct 2026; days are reliable, times can shift with the season.)

Getting there by bus

  • From Rincón de Loix: the Wednesday/Sunday market is on your doorstep — walk.
  • From Levante: walk east along the seafront towards Rincón or take an urban bus towards Rincón de Loix. The nearest stop to the market is C/ Eivissa 17 "Mercat", about 140m away.
  • From Poniente: take an urban bus through the centre towards Rincón de Loix and get off at C/ Eivissa (Mercat). Check our buses and trams guide for current line numbers before you go.
  • Foietes market: it's inland in the Foietes district by the sports city; take an urban bus (see our buses and trams guide for current lines) or a taxi from the centre.
  • Indoor market: walkable from the Old Town and both beaches' central ends.

Watch out for

  • Fakes. Making or selling counterfeit branded goods is a criminal offence in Spain (Article 274 of the Spanish Criminal Code). If you knowingly buy a fake, you have no right to complain or claim a refund. Some Spanish towns, such as Palma, fine shoppers who buy from unlicensed street sellers, and goods that infringe intellectual property rights can be seized at the UK border when you bring them home. We have not found a Benidorm rule that fines buyers, but the simple rule is: don't buy fakes.
  • Bags and pockets. Markets are crowded. Keep your bag zipped and worn across your front, carry only the cash you need, and keep your phone out of your back pocket. More in Is Benidorm safe?
  • Haggling. Polite haggling is normal on clothes, bags and souvenirs, especially near closing time. Don't haggle on fruit and veg.
  • Heat. From June to September, go early and take water. See Benidorm weather.
  • Holiday Wednesdays. If Wednesday is a bank holiday, the Foietes market may move to Tuesday.
