Where can I hear live bands, rock and Northern Soul in Benidorm?

We're three friends in our fifties, back after a long time away, and we're after proper music, not karaoke: Northern Soul and Motown for two of us, a live rock band for the other. We've heard there's a soul bar in the new town. Where is it, and can we walk there from our hotel at the Old Town end of Levante? Where will our rock fan find a live band? And what time should we get there to get a seat?
Head for the Soul Bar on Calle Ibiza in Rincón de Loix: it's the Northern Soul and Motown answer visitors give almost every time, with live acts and DJs. It's near the top of Avenida del Derramador, by the Hotel Pueblo and the Hotel Helios, about 2 km from the Old Town end of Levante: a 25-to-30-minute walk, and most people take a taxi back. For your rock fan, the Levante beach bars have guitar acts from about 16:00, and in the evening the Rock and Roll House in Rincón de Loix has rock and tribute acts, a short walk from the Soul Bar. Get to the Soul Bar soon after it opens, at about 19:30, if you want a seat: it's small, and in 2025 the band came on at 21:30.

Watch out for
- The Soul Bar is small: arrive late and you'll stand, or not get in.
- Opening days change; one visitor found it shut on a Tuesday, so check before you set off.
- Acts swap at short notice: read the board outside on the day.
- Hotel entertainment rarely includes live rock; don't book a hotel expecting it.
- Coming back late from Rincón to the Old Town is a long walk: save a taxi number.
Where is the Soul Bar?
On Calle Ibiza in Rincón de Loix, near the top of Avenida del Derramador. Visitors give the same directions: walk up Derramador towards the Helios and Pueblo hotels, and it's about a minute from the top. It plays Northern Soul and Motown, proper Northern Soul rather than smooth soul, with live acts and DJs. It's the live music question we hear most, and has been since 2023.
When should we get there?
Early. It's a small bar and visitors say it fills up and seats are hard to get. In 2025 it opened at about 19:30, with the band on at 21:30, and there were Friday afternoon soul sessions with a DJ from 15:00. A 2023 visitor found it shut on a Tuesday. Opening days change, so check its own page on the day.
Where can we see a live rock band?
Afternoons on the prom, evenings in Rincón de Loix. Beach bars along Levante have solo and duo rock acts from around 16:00, and our What's on page on 15 October listed live music at the Daytona Rock Beach Bar from midday. In the evening, the Rock and Roll House in Rincón de Loix had a Status Quo tribute at 20:00. Don't expect rock in the hotels: hotel shows aim at an older, quieter crowd.
Is there any jazz or blues?
Not much. Visitors asked in 2024 and 2026 and found few firm answers, and we couldn't confirm a regular blues night. Our 15 October listings had a jazz, soul and pop crooner at the Daytona Rock Beach Bar at 16:00. If you find a blues night, tell us and we'll add it.
How do we find out who is playing tonight?
Use a gig guide, then check the boards outside, because acts change at short notice. Our What's on page lists acts by bar, time and area: on Thursday 15 October it had 202 acts across 57 bars and venues, mostly in Rincón de Loix and Calle Gerona, and most bar shows were free to get in. Filter by live music, pick two or three, then read the boards as you walk.
