How much is a pint in Benidorm these days?

Dear Brenda

We're coming for a month next year and trying to budget. Someone told us pints are still a euro, but surely that's gone with prices going up? Roughly what should we expect to pay for a beer in the day, and in the evening with an act on? And are the glasses proper pints, or are we being short-changed?

Budget €2 to €3 a pint in the day and €3 to €4 in the evening where there's an act on: that's what visitors reported most from 2024 to 2026, and at four pints a day it comes to roughly €300 to €400 each for your month. The €1 pint isn't quite gone: visitors in 2025 and 2026 still found it in back-street bars away from the seafront and in happy hours, just not in the busy show bars. With an act on, add about a euro, since the show itself is free; a 2025 visitor put cabaret bars at about €3.50 a pint. Proper pints? Not always: Spain has no standard beer measure, unmarked 400ml glasses are common, so ask what size you're getting.

Who the regulars recommend

  • NOVA barOld Town bar opposite the church with two cocktails for €12 until 7pm (2025) and good people-watching. Check it's still open.
  • Uncle PedsRincón de Loix bar visitors name for buckets of bottled beer; listing acts in October 2026.
  • Flash Hotel barVisitors say the bar is usually cheap (2024 report).
  • BodeguillaSmall Spanish tapas bar on Carrer del Rosari with alcohol-free beer on draught.
  • MasyMasSupermarket where a visitor paid €8.99 for Spanish brandy in 2025.
  • Bodega BarrilLocal drinks shop visitors use for spirits by the litre (€23.99 for honey whiskey in 2026).

Watch out for

  • Seafront and marina bars charge the most: €5 to €6 a pint isn't unusual there.
  • There's no standard measure; ask what size the 'pint' is.
  • Spirits are free-poured and often stronger than at home.
  • Drinking alcohol on the beach can cost you up to €750, and glass up to €1,500.
  • Happy-hour prices usually end around 7pm; check the board before you order.
What we've learned

Is the €1 pint gone?

Not quite, but it's rare. Visitors in 2025 and 2026 say you can still find a pint for about €1 if you look in the back streets, well away from the seafront, and some daytime offers come close. Most people don't want to sit there all night, though, and the typical price has moved up: in 2026 the range quoted for a pint of local lager ran from €1 to €4 depending on where you sit. The old tales of 80p pints and a £2.50 fry-up are out of date.

What will a pint cost in the day and with an act on?

Work on €2 to €3 in the day and €3 to €4 in the evening, and add about a euro in bars with entertainment. A 2025 visitor put cabaret bars at about €3.50, and a 2026 visitor said it's hard to pay more than £3.50 even with an act on. Bottles ran €3 to €4.40 in 2024. The dearest pints visitors report, €5 to €6, are in a few bars in the busiest spots and on the seafront: one 2024 visitor paid €5.50 for a pint in a marina complex.

Where are the happy hours?

Everywhere, on boards outside the bars. Buckets of bottles, two-for-one cocktails and pint deals usually run until early evening. In 2026 a visitor said most bars in one area offered two pints of lager for €4 until 7pm, and in 2025 NOVA bar in the Old Town, opposite the church, did two cocktails for €12 until 7pm. Over a month, drinking early adds up to real money.

Is a pint here a real pint?

Often not. Spain has no standard beer measure, so a 'pint' is whatever glass the bar uses, and visitors point out that unmarked 400ml glasses are common; a British pint is 568ml. A 2025 visitor thought some entertainment bars had changed their glasses at the same price. If size matters, ask. Spirits go the other way: measures are free-poured, and the UK Foreign Office warns that drinks in Spanish bars are often stronger than at home.

Can I get alcohol-free beer on draught?

Yes. Visitors in 2024 and 2025 say plenty of bars have alcohol-free lager on draught, including small Spanish tapas bars such as Bodeguilla on Carrer del Rosari in the Old Town, and almost all have it in bottles. Ask for a 'cerveza sin alcohol', or a 'caña sin' for a small one. Some bars now stock zero-alcohol spirits too.

Is it cheaper to buy spirits in the supermarket?

Much cheaper. In 2025 a visitor paid €8.99 for a bottle of Spanish brandy at a MasyMas supermarket, and in 2026 another quoted €23.99 for a litre of honey whiskey at the Bodega Barril drinks shop. Check UK supermarket loyalty prices before you go, and airport duty-free on the way home, where some bottles come in plastic. Mind the beach rules: drinking alcohol on the beach can mean a fine of up to €750, and glass up to €1,500.

What's changed lately. Prices have crept up: the €1 pint is now a back-street rarity and the usual evening pint has settled at €3 to €4. Visitors disagree on how far it's gone, some saying you'll rarely pay over €3.50 even with an act on, others having paid €5 to €6 on the seafront. Alcohol-free beer on draught has become easy to find since 2024.

What the regulars say

  • Read the offer boards outside before you sit down; happy hours run until early evening.
  • Drink early: pint and cocktail deals often end around 7pm.
  • Ask what size the 'pint' is if it matters to you; there is no standard measure.
  • Expect to pay about a euro more where there's an act on, since the show is free.
  • Visitors' nightly rule of thumb: €50 for drinks, €10 for late food and €10 for a taxi.
