Can I use a hotel pool in Benidorm if I'm not staying there?

Dear Brenda

We're coming in February and would love a proper swim. Our apartment pool will be cold, if it's open at all, and I'm told the sea is chilly then. Is there a heated pool I can pay to use for the day, ideally indoors? Is there a public pool for lane swimming anywhere? And can we make a day of it with lunch?

Yes: in February your best bet is a day pass at a four-star hotel with a heated indoor pool and spa. Regulars rate Hotel Dynastic most highly, with six 25-metre lanes, heated water, a gym and a spa (2026 visitor report), and in 2025 RH Princesa charged €19 a person for pool, gym and spa, swim hat and flip-flops included; email ahead, because policies change every year. For lane swimming, the council's own pool is at the Palau d'Esports L'Illa de Benidorm sports centre, but the council announced new climate-control works there in September 2026, so check it's open and whether visitors can buy a single swim. And yes, ask the hotel for a day package with lunch: hotels are often happier to let non-residents in when they're eating and drinking, and the Marina quoted €30 including a drink in 2025. Leave the sea to the brave: it averages 14.7°C in February.

Who the regulars recommend

  • Hotel DynasticThe indoor pool regulars praise most: heated, six 25-metre lanes, with a gym and spa. Pay at reception; swim hat needed.
  • RH Princesa€19 a person in 2025 for pool, gym and spa, with swim hat and flip-flops included.
  • Benidorm Plaza (Hotel Climia Benidorm Plaza)Its heated pool is covered in winter, open in summer (2025 visitor report). Ask whether it sells day passes.
  • Hotel NereoHeats its outdoor pool in the cooler months, according to its own website (2025 report).
  • Terralta Apartamentos, Rincón de LoixOne of six hotels on our list with an indoor pool. Check it's open to non-residents.
  • Palau d'Esports L'Illa de BenidormThe council's own pool for lane swimming; check opening after the 2026 climate-control works.

Watch out for

  • Many hotels refuse non-residents, especially at busy times; ask by email before you turn up.
  • 'Heated' can mean heated but uncovered, and some pools stop heating at the end of March.
  • Pack a swim hat: most indoor pools insist on one.
  • Swimming under a red flag carries a fine of €751 to €1,500.
  • Wear water shoes at the water-sports end of Levante; the shallows are rocky.
What we've learned

Which hotels let non-residents use the pool?

A few four-stars with spas, if you ask first. In 2025 RH Princesa charged €19 a person for the pool, fitness room and spa, with a swim hat and flip-flops included. Hotel Dynastic charges for its indoor pool and leisure complex, which visitors rave about for its gym, whirlpools, sauna and Turkish bath. The Marina quoted €30 with one drink in 2025, up from about €10 in 2023. Regulars warn that many hotels refuse outsiders for safety reasons or in busy months, and that last year's policy may not be this year's, so email or phone two or three before you go.

Is there a heated indoor pool for winter?

Yes, but fewer than you'd think. Six of the 50 hotels on our list have an indoor pool, among them the Terralta apartments in Rincón de Loix and Hotel Dynastic. The Benidorm Plaza has one heated pool that is covered in winter and open in summer, and Hotel Nereo says on its own website that it heats its outdoor pool in the cooler months. Be careful with 'heated': regulars point out that heated doesn't always mean covered, and that some pools are heated only until the end of March. Most indoor pools insist on a swim hat.

Is there a public pool for lane swimming?

Yes, the council's pool at the Palau d'Esports L'Illa de Benidorm sports centre. In September 2026 the council announced a new climate-control system for the pool there, so check it's open before you go, and ask at the desk or the tourist office whether visitors can pay for a single swim. If you'd rather a hotel, a 2026 visitor counted six 25-metre lanes at the Dynastic's heated indoor pool. Aqua gym classes were another 2026 question; hotel spas were where people found them.

Can we make a day of it with lunch?

Usually, and it can help you get in. Some hotels welcome non-residents because they'll eat and drink, so ask for a day pass with lunch when you email. For a group, one regular suggests a single night's booking with meals can work out cheaper than several day passes.

Can I swim in the sea instead?

Not comfortably in February: the sea averages 14.7°C, and the day high is about 16.6°C. From June to October it's a different story, at 24°C in June, 27 to 28°C in July and August and still 22.5°C in October. Watch the flags all year: swimming under a red flag carries a fine of €751 to €1,500. And mind the rocky shallows at the water-sports end of Levante; it gets better further along.

What's changed lately. Day passes have got dearer, from about €10 in 2023 to €19 to €30 in 2025, and more hotels now say no in busy months because their own guests struggle for sunbeds. Regulars split on whether outsiders should use hotel pools at all in summer, but in winter, when pools are quiet, hotels with spas are more willing.

What the regulars say

  • Email the hotel before you turn up; last year's day-pass policy may not be this year's.
  • Pack a swim hat for any indoor hotel pool; most insist on one.
  • Ask for a day pass with lunch; hotels like non-residents who eat and drink.
  • In winter, ask whether a 'heated' pool is also covered.
  • For a group, one night's booking with meals can cost less than several day passes.
