Most travellers book a coach trip in resort, with the time at the falls and the entry ticket sorted for you. Others booked jeep or buggy trips direct with the operator and enjoyed them. Online, a half-day jeep trip was listed from £46 and buggies from £101 for two (checked Oct 2026).

Yes, in parts. In 2022 travellers found swimming allowed in some pools but not all. The water comes straight off the mountains and is cold even in summer. Wear swim shoes, because the rocks are very slippery.

Bus line 18 has run one bus a day, leaving the town centre around 10:00 and arriving about 11:15 (2023 report). On 15 Oct 2026 the timetable showed little or no service on the line, so do not rely on it. Most travellers take a coach tour or a taxi instead.

At least €30 each way, travellers said in 2024. The falls are only about 18 miles away, and a taxi gives you more time there. Ride apps do not seem to cover the area.
Asked 2 times since 2024 · Traveller reports 2024
Not really. Travellers describe rocky, uneven ground and steps that get very slippery when wet. There is a bar and restaurant with a pool at the entrance, so less mobile visitors can still enjoy part of the visit.

Algar scores 4.7 from 10,230 on GetYourGuide but only 3.8 from 1,918 on TripAdvisor; the falls are magical if you swim, crowded and pricey if you don't.
Pretty, but a tourist trap and pricey for its size at €6. The narrow paths will clog in summer.
Stunning but overcrowded, though the setting justifies the fee.
Paid €5 to park, then found timed entry slots and €8 per adult.
The water is freezing even in summer, but refreshing. Get in quickly.
Algar is fun only if you go in the water. Otherwise, just do Guadalest.
Quiet off-season with a great guide. School holidays would be busy; bring swim shoes for the slippery rocks.
Rated highly, but the €8 entry is extra and the lockers are very small.
The 3-hour tour leaves only one hour of free time at the falls.
Two hours at Algar was plenty for a swim.
Full-day jeep trip scoring 4.8 from 613. One reviewer called it a must-do.
