Short answer

Levante is Benidorm's best-known beach: 2,084 metres of fine golden sand running from Punta Canfali, by the Old Town, to Rincón de Loix. It holds the Blue Flag for 2026. Lifeguards are on duty 10:00–19:00 in June and 09:00–20:00 from July to September, and the beach is staffed all year. A sunbed or parasol costs €6 each per day. Behind it is the Levante promenade, with bars, cafés and the busiest part of town. Come here if you want everything within a few minutes' walk. Go to Poniente if you want room to spread out.

What it's like

Levante faces south-east, so it gets sun into the evening. In summer you can still be on the sand after 8 pm. The water is usually calm and shelves gently, which is why families like the Rincón de Loix end. The middle of the beach is the busiest. Behind it are the hotels, the Strip and the British bars around Rincón.

There are 21 access walkways, four children's play areas and four sports areas. From mid-June to 1 September 2026 there is a free floating platform. It is staffed and open 11:00–19:00. A beach library ("biblioplaya") runs Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00–16:00.

Levante is the beach for watersports. Visit Benidorm lists sunbed hire, floating platforms, a cable ski and boat-towed rides. Operators set up at buoyed channels, and you should keep out of those channels when you swim.

Sunbeds, towels and space

The sunbeds belong to the council's beach contractor, RA. Prices have been fixed at €6 per item per day since the council's June 2022 vote. That vote allowed up to 6,315 sunbeds in 21 sectors across the town's beaches. You pay the attendant in your sector. No official half-day rate is published.

Since 2022 the council has kept a 6-metre strip clear along the water's edge for walkers. That leaves towel space in three places: at the very front, between the sunbed sectors where gaps are left, and at the far ends. Local video from spring 2026 shows more sunbed rows going out on Levante each year. One creator estimated that over half the beach was covered by paid beds in peak season. That figure is an estimate and the council does not publish counts.

Reserving with a parasol at dawn. Expect this to come up. The ordinance lets cleaning crews and police remove items that get in the way of cleaning. The shoreline is machine-cleaned between 03:00 and 09:30 in summer. Some national press has claimed fines of up to €750 are possible, but in 2023 the council said no rule bans reserving a spot and no fines had been issued. Our advice: don't leave gear on the sand overnight.

Beach bars and clubs

Bars are not allowed on the sand. Alcohol is banned on the beach itself, so drinking happens on the promenade side. Venues we have checked: - Tiki Beach – a beach bar with DJs from 11:30. October 2026 menu: pint €3, cocktails €9, full English €8.90. - Bikini Beach (Av. Madrid 32) – happy hours 10:00–12:00 and 17:00–20:00. Piña colada €6 at happy hour (October 2025). - Oasis Beach Club (Av. Madrid 30) – Balinese beds and a rooftop jacuzzi, April to October. Packages are popular with stag and hen groups. Prices come by quote. - Barceló B-Heaven (rooftop) – Balinese bed €100 for one or two people for 8 hours, with €80 of it back as drinks credit. Hotel guests only. - Moon Beach – open until 04:00. Quieter in the daytime.

Watch out for

  • Red flag means out of the water. Swimming under a red flag is a serious offence under the ordinance, with fines of €751–1,500.
  • No glass and no booze on the sand. Both are banned. Bring drinks in cans or plastic and keep the beer for the promenade.
  • Smoking is still legal on Levante in 2026, but Spain plans to ban it on beaches nationally. Nearby Albir and La Cala de Finestrat are already smoke-free.
  • Pickpockets and unattended bags. Don't leave phones on towels while you swim. Local police patrol the beach in summer.
  • Midday heat. The sand has little natural shade. UV peaks between 12:00 and 16:00.
